About this Beach
The bay takes its name from an anchor recovered from the seabed, thought to have come from a vessel lost in one of the storms that periodically sweep the northern coast. In 1980 Robert Altman built the Popeye Village film set here for a production starring Robin Williams, and the brightly painted wooden structures have stayed ever since.
